ATM Safety Tips

ATMs are a great convenience, but if not preceded with safety it can be dangerous. You can avoid becoming a victim of an ATM crime by following these safety tips:

  1. Always pay close attention to the ATM and your surroundings, particularly at night. If you have a strange feeling something is wrong, find another ATM to use.

  2. Have your ATM card ready in hand as you approach the ATM.

  3. Be careful that no one can see you enter your pin number. Make sure you memorize your number, never write it on the back of your card!

  4. Always take your receipts with you; it will help keep your account information confidential.

  5. Do not visually count your money at the ATM, always tuck it into your pocket or purse and count it later.

  6. If you use the drive-up ATM park as close to the ATM as possible, make sure all windows are up and doors are locked except for the driver window.
