TIPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM
DEBIT CARD FRAUD
At BCCU, protecting our members from fraud is our top priority. Card fraud occurs in lots of ways, like online, phone, email scams, data branches, card or mail theft. We have a number of security measures in place and there are some additional things you can do to further protect yourself.
BCCU will never text or call and ask for your online banking account information. Never provide your online banking account information over the phone.
Monitoring your account frequently is one of the best ways to identify unauthorized activity.
Never give your account information to anyone over the phone unless you initiated the call to a company you know to be reputable.
Be cautious when using your cards online. Only enter information on websites your 100 percent sure are legitimate.
Look for irregularities with an ATM before using it, especially with the card slot. If it looks odd, it may be a skimmer used to capture your credit card information. If you notice it after you’ve inserted your card, alert the card issuer.
Tell Us You’ll Be Traveling
Weather you plan to travel internationally or domestically, you can use travel notifications as an added safeguard. That way, our fraud monitoring team will know where to expect purchases and won’t flag legitimate charges. Call BCCU and provide the location and dates of your travel.
